In the Juku there are two forms of shibari instruction: private lessons and workshops. I teach Yukimura-Ryû which puts emphasis on experiencing and communicating with the other person. The teaching at the Juku is characterized by a precise concept. On the one hand, this allows us to respond to the individual strengths and abilities of the learners, but on the other hand, we can also give a structured training within the framework of the two ryû.
Private lessons Yukimura-Ryû
Yukimura-Ryû is a minimalist style. The techniques are quiet and subtle to create intense emotions.
The basic techniques can be performed with a few ropes. Thinner ropes with a diameter of 4 to 4.5 mm are also mostly used. The floor techniques are thus easier, faster and more elegant implemented. It also creates more filigree patterns and more efficient movements. This gives the Yukimura-Ryû its unique elegance.
In collaboration with Michael Ropeknight, I have developed a comprehensive Kyû-system that combines philosophical, aesthetical and theoretical elements. This training system is unique in the world and in use since 2020.
In private lessons, the focus is on the development of the student. The development and goals of the students are the most important elements, patterns serve as practices and are of secondary importance.
Workshops
Besides private lessons, we also organize workshops. There are basically two types of workshops: On the one hand, those that we organize ourselves, and those for which we invite external instructors.
Our self-organized workshops focus on people who are interested in Osada-Ryû and Yukimura-Ryû. Quality and close supervision are particularly important. We are working with small groups (maximum four to five couples) so that we can provide in-depth feedback to all participants.
The second type of workshop is conducted by external instructors that we invite to the Juku. These workshops usually have a specific theme, for example safety, consensus, floor or suspension techniques.
